The next generations’ websites will those who are willing to share ad revenue with their users. The concept is not new but the number of sites is still far too low for the audience that is expecting to make money from their internet activities. The best sites I have seen with this model are hubpages.com and squidoo.com. Both sites allow you to write articles about any subject you would like to write about and then share in the revenue that is generated by the ads that are shown on the content you create.
Squidoo.com shows the ads and then tells you how many clicks were received on your content. They control everything in house which leads to their users wondering if they are getting the full benefit of the content they contribute. I believe that squidoo is fair in their reporting because their livelihood is dependant on keeping their user base happy and contributing. But there are always suspicions when things aren’t clear and out in the open.
Hubpages.com allows their members to add their own Adsense id to their account and then track the total number of impressions through their account. Their way of doing business is open and clear. There is no doubt in their user’s minds that they received their fair share of ad impressions and the account is done by each individual. There are some limitations as to how many outbound links can be sent to one site on an individual article and other restrictions that must be followed but for my money I choose hubpages.com over squidoo.com every day.
I liked Hubpages.com business model so much that I built 3 sites that are run in the exact same manner. Peoplefuel.com, expurt.com, and becaus.com all work on the same principle the hubpages.com does. When you sign up at any of those site you can put in your Adsense id and 50% of the time a visitor comes to an article you contributed on the site your ads are shown on that article. You can also place outbound links to your own sites which help them rank for the keywords you are targeting and sends traffic to your site from those links.
If you have a blog or other website to promote you should write articles for all of the sites I have listed above to help with promotion. There are no stronger links you can get to your site than exactly related articles with the right keywords and links. Plus you get the benefit of making a little money from each of the articles you write unlike submitting them to article directories. All of your articles should be original content that you wrote or bought and not copied articles from someone else. Duplicate content just doesn’t help you in the long run.
